Where Does the Defense Production Act Go from Here?

The Defense Production Act, though regularly used before the pandemic, has been invoked more broadly and urgently since March. The Trump administration put the 70-year-old law to work in various ways: prioritizing U.S. government orders for N95 masks, directing companies to produce ventilators, and most recently, aiming to rebuild industrial capacity related to public health. The Biden administration should build on these efforts — and work to strengthen sections of the DPA that hinder its broader use.

Japan requests foreign help with F-X as programme moves into next phase: reports

Japan’s defence ministry is inviting foreign suppliers to help develop the country’s next-generation combat aircraft, known as the Future Fighter programme, or F-X.

The solicitation was made via a public notice and a press briefing by Japanese defence minister Taro Kono on 25 August, according to reports.

Air Force asks Raytheon to provide trusted computing to GPS with secure ASIC components

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE, Ga. – Navigation and guidance experts at the Raytheon Co. will add trusted computing capability to high-precision secure U.S. Air Force airborne Global Positioning System (GPS) guidance under terms of an $11.4 million order announced Tuesday.
